Long Block Assembly Process

Final long block assembly begins with a fully machined and assembled short block. A finished cylinder head is then selected and prepared for installation.

A new head gasket is installed, and all main bolts and crankcase bolts are torqued to manufacturer specifications.

Once torque procedures are complete, we install:

     - A new timing chain

    -  A new timing chain tensioner

    -  A new O-ring

This step is critical, as timing components have been updated over the years. We install only new, updated timing components in every long block assembly.

The engine is then timed precisely, and all timing components are triple-checked for accuracy and proper torque.

Next, a valve cover is installed. In some cases, this valve cover is installed for shipping purposes only. If required, the customer may need to remove the valve cover from their core and install it onto the long block assembly.

In most cases, the installed valve cover is an updated version, and no replacement is necessary.

Any special instructions regarding valve cover installation will be clearly attached to the powerhead.

The assembly is then inspected for all required fittings and painted as necessary.

Once complete, the finished long block assembly is wrapped in protective plastic, securely palletized, and prepared for shipment.
