this is for a remanufactured 5.44HD gearcase. The 5.44 hd case comes standard with the 1.25in hd prop shaft and requires Mercury Racing’s Flo-Torq II HD solid hub system. (LINK HERE) This is the most robust gear case available for any mercury verado lower unit. the pinion gear is 24 percent larger, and the drive gears are 14 percent larger. The clutch dog is 30 percent longer and has five times the impact resistance of the dog in the 4.8-inch gear case, Miller said. The lower end of the drive shaft is stronger, thanks to greater girth and a high-capacity needle bearing for added pinion gear support. The drive shaft is also designed to lift gear oil to the upper bearing. These gear cases come in 1.75 ratio and are available in left (counter) and right (standard) rotation They are available in 20in 25in and 30in shaft lengths. Please specify when ordering your shaft length and rotation NO PROP INCLUDED There are two different versions of the Verado lower unit. There is a small hub and a large hub. If you have a small hub lower unit, the hub will measure 4.8" across the hub.
